Apple Macintosh IIcx

Donor:  Janet Gibson

Released in March 1989, the Macintosh IIcx was a smaller, quieter, cheaper successor to the Macintosh IIx. Its internal parts also all snapped into place, without screws or other fasteners. Also, its case was the only one Apple ever designed to sit either horizontally or vertically. In general, the Macintosh II series was notable for including Color QuickDraw in ROM, allowing for 24-bit color (it was the first personal computer with this capability released) and much greater flexibility in what resolutions could be displayed and how many monitors could be connected.
