NeXTSTEP Software Release Version 0.8a

This operating system, developed by NeXT Computer Company to run on a range of workstation computers, is a multitasking operating system that is object oriented. It combines the Unix OS, with the Objective-C programming language, as well as tools to modify the included object-oriented application layers.

The first version, 1.0, was released in 1989, after several previews as early as 1986. Thus, the 0.8a release version was a "beta program", which was supplied to beta testers to look for errors in the programming.
