Dot matrix printers operate by moving a printer head up and down the page (or side to side), and having an ink-soaked cloth ribbon (studded with tiny pins) strike the paper. The pins (guided by a small guide plate) strike the paper in a format to print letters and characters of varying sizes and fonts.
The manual for the MX-100 Epson Dot Matrix printer explains background, installation, and operation of the printer. The manual was produced in 1981 by Epson Company.
