Sony PDP-64 Pro Digital Audio Tape Plus

Donor:  Helt

Digital Audio Tape (DAT or R-DAT) resembles a compact audio cassette, but the DAT cassette is about half the size, uses digital technology rather than analog, and utilizes only one side in recording rather than two. The DAT format was introduced Sony in 1987, and it provided excellent sound quality with very little noise. However, the format was relatively expensive and this limited its widespread use.
